Our Story
Shiro on the Go was founded by Kidist Woldemariam and cofounder Gizeadis Atinafu, two women united by faith, culture, and a shared passion for building community through food.
Their partnership is built on mutual belief, encouragement, and a shared desire to elevate Ethiopian cuisine. Together, they honor tradition while embracing innovation, blending Ethiopian flavors with global influences to show how food can connect cultures and tell powerful stories.
Shiro on the Go is more than a place to eat — it is a celebration of heritage, resilience, faith, and the beauty of community, shared one plate at a time.
Kidist Woldemariam
Founder
Kidist’s journey began in Ethiopia, where she learned to cook beside her mother and discovered that food is more than nourishment — it is love, tradition, and connection. After immigrating to the United States, she carried those flavors with her, using food to stay close to home while building a new life. What started as a way to honor her mother’s cooking grew into a mission to share Ethiopian culture and create meaningful opportunities through food. Becoming a mother deepened that purpose, inspiring her to build a legacy rooted in heritage, strength, and love for the next generation.
Gizeadis Atinafu
Cofounder
Gizeadis brings heart, vision, and deep community roots to Shiro on the Go. As the owner of Mercato Market, a beloved Ethiopian market she has led for seven years, she has created a welcoming space where culture and community thrive. Her passion for food, faith, and service shines through in the way she cares for those around her. A devoted mother of three, she leads with generosity, creativity, and grace — always seeing the bigger picture and uplifting others along the way.
